We will begin our walk through the Albaicin (also called Albayzin, from the Arabic word “al-bayyāzīn”), which is undoubtedly the most charming and beautiful neighborhood in the entire city.
A multitude of civilizations have inhabited this neighborhood since ancient times: First were the Iberians, followed by Romans, Visigoths and Arabs who inhabited the neighborhood until the arrival of the Christians after the conquest of the city in 1492.
Walking with our private guide through its labyrinthine streets and discovering its cisterns, Cármenes and ancient mosques that are today Mudejar churches and we will understand why it was declared a World Heritage Site in 1994 by UNESCO, 10 years after the Alhambra.
Then we will walk towards the Sacromonte quarter, a neighborhood that once had a great religious meaning for the city (hence its name) with more than 1.200 crosses. Today it is known worldwide for its flamenco caves, which are the essence of gypsy life and Granada’s zambra, flamenco and “cante jondo”.
This will in fact be the finishing touch for your experience: You will enjoy a live flamenco show! The original “Zambra” of Granada, performed by dancers, singers and guitar players. A great experience that also includes a drink and transport back to your hotel in Granada city-centre.
History, folklore, religion, landscape, spectacle … these are great ingredients to turn this tour into a magnificent experience that you should not miss!
