Roman Villa of Salar for families

We offer you a full-day experience to discover what the excavation process of an archaeological site is like, with such remarkable characteristics as the Roman Villa of Salar.

An excavation project to show us the luxurious home of the owners of this Roman-era agricultural holding, which highlights the quality and richness of its decorative ensemble.

Its foundation has been documented during the first decades of the 1st century AD, until at least the second half of the 3rd century AD.

One of the most representative elements are its mosaics with beautiful colors, figurative representations that recreate mythological scenes, fabulous hunting scenes and geometric figures, as well as a statue of a 2nd century Pudic Venus that is exhibited in the Interpretation Center of the Villa , which we will visit in the first place and which will serve as an introduction and contact. And where we will also have the opportunity to buy artisan products such as olive oil, honey, jams, cheese, …

Then we will visit the archaeological site, separated into two pavilions, which in the future will form one only because it is a “living” excavation, that is, it continues to grow and there are still many treasures to be found!

To complete the experience, we can add a workshop where children learn to create their own mosaic that they can take home as a souvenir. While the adults carry out an olive oil tasting with D.O. Poniente Granada, dipping with delicious local bread.

And finally, a well-deserved typical village lunch, how could it be otherwise: Roman-style! ????

It is therefore a perfect excursion to spend a different day as a couple, with family or friends, outside the capital, a natural environment that allows us to travel to Roman times, to relax and forget about the bustle of the city.
